Shamirah lost her mother as a result of a hemorrhage, a few hours after she was born. Her father relies on piecework to make ends meet, making it difficult for him to buy formula milk, hence Shamirah has been feeding on regular milk, which is not recommended for a baby her age. Since her mother's death, Shamirah has been living with her aunt, who has no source of income and can't even provide for her own family. Following this situation, Shamirah has been brought into our Chikondi Infant Home where she will access formula milk and other basic needs, as well as quality medical care.
