Mervis lost her father in 2021. With him being the breadwinner, his demise left the family stranded. Her mother struggles to provide through piecework. Despite her family’s economic situation, Mervis is eager to pursue education and reach her goal of becoming a nurse. In addition to little or no academic support, she lacks food, clothes, and hygiene supplies.

Mervis enjoys learning English and Mathematics as she wants to become a nurse. Despite being quiet and reserved, she loves to play netball.
