Maria is the second born in a family of 5 kids. Her siblings are Snowden, Neva, Henry, and Harriet. They lost their mother in 2022 due to cancer and their father remarried and abandoned the family, leaving the children without any support. Their grandmother stepped in to support them with the little she gets. However, the children live by themselves.

Currently, the firstborn (Snowden) is the main provider of the family and he relies on piecework. He struggles to adequately provide for the family since he also goes to school. The children struggle to meet their daily needs and they often eat once a day. In addition, although Maria loves school and has big dreams, she faces the risk of dropping out of school, thereby shattering her dreams.
