The Staford household has five children, two boys and three girls. Their mother died of Asthma in March 2019, while their father died in August of the same year. Following the death of both parents, the oldest child (Mphatso) got married and moved to Kachulu area along Lake Chilwa, leaving behind the younger ones to fend for themselves. They do piecework to buy food, but sometimes they go without food for up to five days. Since they couldn’t afford to pay for school development fund and learning materials, they all dropped out of school a few months after their parents died. 

Lonjezo is the fourth-born in the family.
