Joseph lost his mother at birth due to postpartum hemorrhage. His grandmother took him in since his father couldn't provide the necessary care as he relied on piecework. The grandmother equally has no stable income, mostly eating once a day. They therefore cannot afford to care for baby Joseph due to poverty. This increases the baby’s risk of infections as well as malnutrition.
