Hazel is the last born in a family of 4 children, living with her parents and her siblings. Her mother does some piece work while her father stays at home, he does not work due to health-related issues. Providing for the 4 children and the husband is a big challenge because the income her mother earns from the piecework is not enough to provide for the entire family and this has also affected Hazel's optimal development.

Being in the ECD program will provide Hazel with breakfast and lunch every day, as well as give her an educational foundation, preparing her for primary school in a few years. She also will be given an opportunity to hear about Jesus and know how much she is loved.

Hazel dreams of becoming a medical doctor. When free, she likes playing ball games with her friends. Her favorite color is pink and she likes eating nsima with chicken.
