Catherine is the only child in her family. She lives with her mother and grandmother. Despite her father's denial of responsibility and abandonment during her mother's pregnancy, the family works tirelessly, engaging in piecework to make ends meet but meeting Catherine's needs has been a significant struggle. 

Being in the ECD program will provide Catherine with breakfast and lunch every day and give her an educational foundation, preparing her for primary school in a few years.

Catherine dreams of becoming a nurse. She is friendly and likes dancing. Her favorite color is pink and she likes eating nsima with beans and okra.
