Agnes lost both her father and mother when she was young due to asthma. Her current guardian is her older sister who is married and unable to provide for Agnes. 

Agnes loves school and is really smart.  She went to Ntonda Primary School and was later selected Matandwe Community Day Secondary.  She passed her Malawi School Certificate of Education and qualified for college. 

Although growing up she had the ambition to become a nurse, she did not make it to a Nursing school. She later decided to apply for a teaching college and was successful. She is now studying to be a Primary School Teacher at Machinga Teacher’s College, making her the first college student from Jali Center. As soon as she joined the college, she started loving teaching because she sees it as a great opportunity to influence many kids, especially girls, to do well in life.  She strongly believes that education is the key to success. 

 

Agnes is a born again Christian and she attends Jali Community Church. She also helps teach Sunday School during holidays.
