Disability Cerebral Palsy
Shukulani is a 16-year-old boy with cerebral palsy, he was born with birth asphyxia. The problems did not begin until he was 7 months old and he wasn’t learning to sit up. He lives with his mother and grandmother and his mother works all day. This makes it difficult for them to do the stretches and exercises that we want them to do. Shukulani spends most of the day laying down on the ground and this has caused many secondary issues in his body. Many of his joints are frozen and he is windswept (twisted) to the left. He is also malnourished and small for his age. We have started giving him nutritional supplements and hope to see him grow stronger. Shukulani comes from a Muslim family, and we have been very diligent in sharing the gospel with them from the beginning.
During our first visit, we shared the gospel with his mother who seemed very receptive, but we have been unable to follow-up with her as she has not returned to our outreach program. At the last visit, it was his brother-in-law who brought him, and we also shared the gospel with him and he was very eager to receive Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. We encouraged him to share this with his wife, who is Shukulani’s sister, as well as the rest of the family.
