Disability Cerebral Palsy

Priscilla is an 11-year-old girl with cerebral palsy. When we first met Priscilla, she couldn’t walk. Her grandmother also told us that she could not speak full sentences and that her right hand was weak. Priscilla’s disability began at birth, probably due to a lack of oxygen during labor and delivery. Before Passion Center, they attempted to help Priscilla by taking her to physical therapy at the local hospital. However, transportation costs made it difficult for the family to continue. Since we have been working with her, she has gained strength and ability to stand and walk with support. Last August, the team took her to be assessed at Cure Hospital in Blantyre and they admitted her for treatment. They injected medication into her muscles to relax them so they could be stretched, and forms were made for her ankles to help support her as she walks. She continued going to Blantyre for physical therapy for several months until they sent her back to the local hospital for continued treatment. She continues to go once a month and is now walking on her own. Priscilla is always full of joy when we see her.
