Phillip is the firstborn in a family of two. His father died after a long sickness; he was hospitalized for a year at Zomba Central Hospital after being diagnosed with cancer. He died when Phillip was just 8 years old. The mother doesn't have any support from relatives. Life is very difficult for them; sometimes, they spend two days without eating, and even finding clothes for the children is tough for her, leading Phillip and his siblings to wear torn clothes.

Phillip is well-behaved and wants to become a soldier when he grows up. His favorite subjects are English and mathematics. He likes helping his mother with house chores when he returns from school. In his free time, he likes to play soccer with his friends.
